Catherine Giannitto, Director of Polestar Pilates Australia, hosted the first Pilates training courses in Sydney in 2002. They were so successful that Polestar global HQ noticed, and appointed Catherine as the Licensee for Polestar Education Australia. Catherine holds a Diploma in Sports Therapies and is heavily involved in the Pilates community as a committee member of the Pilates Alliance of Australasia (PAA) since 2006.Polestar Australia is one of the first Pilates training organisations to become a Government Accredited RTO (Registered Training Organisation). Polestar Australia are pioneers in teacher training and instructor certification, running Certificate IV and Diploma level Pilates since 2008.

Polestar Education was founded in Sacramento California in 1992 by President Brent Anderson PhD, PT, OCS and co-founder Elizabeth Larkam MA, Feldenkrais Practitioner. Polestar originated as a provider of Continuing Education for rehabilitation specialists.
In 1997, Anderson pursued his doctorate in Physical Therapy and Movement Science and was accepted to the University of Miami. Polestar continued to thrive under his direction with unprecedented growth.
The curriculum is continuously reviewed and enhanced by a committee of principal educators. Polestar has over 50 core educators that teach around the world. Today, Polestar delivers Instructor Training and Certification through a vast network of licensees in over 40 countries. Polestar collaborates with the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) and reputable Pilates schools across the USA to maintain the integrity of comprehensive Pilates Method education.
Brent Anderson is a Doctor of Physical Therapy specialising in Orthopedics. He is the world authority on medicine and performing arts, Pilates and rehabilitation techniques. Anderson received his degree in Physical Therapy at the University of California, San Francisco, in 1989 Today he is an Associate Professor at the University of Miami, Division of Physical Therapy.
Dr. Anderson’s doctoral thesis reviewed the impact of Pilates rehabilitation in chronic low back pain using psycho-emotional wellbeing and quality of life. Brent Anderson is part of the American Physical Therapy Association, of which he was Chairman of Performing Arts and member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science.
