This course is a continuation from the Polestar Ultimate Reformer series. With over 17 new exercises to expand your repertoire for group and private session teaching.

It builds on what you learned from the beginner and intermediate exercises for the Reformer, to the advanced exercises, sequences and techniques to broaden your repertoire.

It builds on what you learned from the beginner and intermediate exercises for the Reformer, to the advanced exercises, sequences and techniques to broaden your repertoire.

What you will learn:

Walk away with the ability to advance your students and clients with more challenging variations and new exercises for core control, balance, coordination, flexibility and extremity strength. An experiential lab and lecture on Tactile and Imagery cueing will enhance your accuracy, quality of movement and teaching skills.

REF3 emphasises program design for all levels of fitness, from de-conditioned to athletes, desiring sports-specific training. Dynamics of group training in this unique conditioning program will also be covered.

  • Demonstrate ability to correctly execute 17 Intermediate to Advanced Polestar Pilates Reformer exercises.
  • Accurately teach an Advanced Reformer class and/or private session sequence.
  • Correctly identify the most applicable Polestar movement principles for each Reformer exercise.
  • Understand the benefits and emphasis of each Reformer exercise.
  • Demonstrate the postural progression from supine to standing.
  • Understand the progression of each exercise from the introductory to advanced.
  • Identify the most common precautions and contraindications for each Reformer exercise.
  • Modify Reformer exercises based upon students’ needs utilising varied lever length, range of motion, base of support and tempo.
  • Identify and demonstrate knowledge of how body orientation and spring settings affect each exercise.
  • Identify prominent bony landmarks necessary for teaching purposes.
  • Develop an awareness of the contributions that movement, imagery and touch can make to body image and self-image.
  • Gain theoretical and experiential understanding of Polestar instructional techniques of verbal, tactile and combined cueing.
  • Design Sports or Population specific classes/private sessions.

Prerequisites:

Completion of a comprehensive Pilates teacher program from a Pilates Method Alliance approved school (such as Polestar Ultimate Reformer Series or Polestar Comprehensive Studio/Rehabilitation course)
