WHAT IS THE POLESTAR PILATES DIPLOMA?
The Diploma of Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Instruction Method (10828NAT) trains you to use all the equipment designed by Joe Pilates: Reformer, Trapeze Table, Combo Chair, Spine Corrector and Ladder Barrel as well all mat exercises and small apparatus. This course is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualification Framework. Polestar Australia is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) No. 91620.
The nationally recognised Diploma of Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Instruction Method (10828NAT) consists of three components: the Matwork certification, the Comprehensive (Studio/Rehab) certification, plus 7 academic units. To qualify for the Diploma, all of the following must be completed.
- NSW, VIC, WA, SA, QLD, TAS, ACT
- Courses Run From February 2021
- Timetable & Schedule: Two intakes yearly / February and August
- Duration: 1,153 Hours
- Lectures face-to-face, self-mastery and some online.

Requirements
- 25 hours of private or group Pilates classes
- Rehabilitation branch: Doctors or Fisiotherapists
- Pilates Comprehensive Degree by Polestar
- Pilates Comprehensive Degree by school approved by PMA
- Certified instructor or registered rehabilitation professional.
- Polestar Principles Course completed.
- Gateway 1 Course completed.
- MAT or equivalent education completed.
- Pilates teachers or medical/health licencees or degrees.
Pre-requisites
You qualify for entry into this Diploma if you have completed the following (you may be asked to provide evidence when you register):
- HSC or higher qualification
- a good understanding of Pilates –we recommend completing a minimum of 25 hours of personal Pilates practice either this may include matwork and studio work
- Anatomy & Physiology – successful completion of an Anatomy and Physiology course through a recognised education body
If you are already qualified in one of the following occupations you would meet the Anatomy & Physiology pre-perquisites: Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Exercise Physiologist, Nurse, Myotherapist, Remedial Massage Therapist, Cert IV Personal Trainer.

UPGRADE TO DIPLOMA:
You may qualify for an upgrade to the Polestar Diploma if:
- you have completed the Polestar Pilates Complete Matwork Series
- you have completed the Polestar Pilates Comprehensive (Studio/Rehab) Series
- you have completed a Pilates Mat & Studio qualification from another comprehensive Pilates Education School
TRANSITION PROGRAM
The Transition Program allows you to get the Polestar experience at a discounted rate, while being recognised for what you already know. Transition is available for our Pilates Studio and Pilates for Rehabilitation programs.
To qualify, you must satisfy the prerequisites and be certified by a reputable Pilates education company in a comprehensive program covering a combination of Reformer, Trapeze Table, Chair, Ladder Barrel and Mat work. As a transition student you will attend the course Units, complete the assignments, prove self-mastery and competency and complete the final exam.

If you have already completed your Polestar Pilates Matwork Series and Studio/Rehab Series then you can upgrade to the Diploma. The upgrade consists of Academic Units that are completed online with final assessment face-to-face. You can start your Academic Units any time from when you register. When you complete your course, you will be required to submit all your Academic Units for assessment. You have six (6) months from when you register to complete and submit your Academic Units for this upgrade process. The Diploma of Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Instruction Method (10828NAT) is designed for individuals working in a broad range of settings as a Pilates Matwork and Studio Instructor. Pilates Matwork and Studio instructors can manage comprehensive conditioning and rehabilitation programs to clients from a range of backgrounds and presenting with a variety of conditions.
The role of the Pilates Instructor is to design and program Pilates movement sessions for the individual or small groups using Pilates studio equipment and matwork. This can include liaison with allied health professionals such as Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths and General Practitioners.
This qualification includes the units of competency required by Pilates Instructors to perform a new client assessment, design and program a range of Pilates movements on various Pilates equipment, coordinate operations with studio personnel and interact with Allied Health professionals.
The above skills and knowledge are consistent with the AQF Qualification Type Descriptor for a Diploma in that the graduates of this course will have:
- developed in-depth underpinning knowledge in technical and theoretical concepts associated with the Polestar Pilates method
- ability to process information from a range of sources, through sound analysis and synthesis of information and then use this cognition to act appropriately across situations
- ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable problems
- ability to express ideas creatively
- ability to transfer knowledge and skills to others
- ability to work autonomously taking responsibility for achieving outputs and outcomes
- ability to organise the work of others and evaluate outputs and outcomes.

Additional out of pocket expenses
- The practical self-mastery hours are at an additional cost to the course fees as you will be attending studios to complete these. Remember that 30% of these hours can be completed as self-directed study
- Logbook sign off for teaching and demonstration of all repertoire. As you proceed through the course all repertoire learnt must be signed off by an Educator or Mentor for teaching and demonstration. Polestar allocates time at each face to face weekend for repertoire check off however sometimes students are not quite ready so this will need to be done in your own time and will incur additional fees by engaging a mentor or attending study groups in your city.
